Climate change is going to make New York hotter and its weather more volatile. Pollutants from cars, waste, paint, and storm runoff permeate the City. And these issues do not affect all populations equally. Black and Brown New Yorkers suffer higher rates of asthma in the City because of airborne pollutants. Cool, tree-lined areas are not distributed equally. And protection from the worst effects of climate change are not equal.

As Borough President, I will impact land use in Manhattan, have a capital budget to spend, appoint members to the Solid Waste Advisory Board, and appoint members to our Community…

As I have traveled around Manhattan and done Zoom forum after Zoom forum this year, I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked about the issue of homelessness. It comes up again and again. But the manner in which it comes up varies by location and questioner. And I will be frank: I am tired of being asked about homelessness as a blight for people who have homes to experience and not as a life and death problem for people experiencing homelessness.

I am proud to have received the endorsement of Shams DaBarron — the “homeless hero”…

Many candidates for office have a racial justice platform that is sectioned off from the rest of their platform. They have an economic policy, immigration policy, housing policy, and then a separate racial justice policy, by which they often just mean criminal justice reform. But we know that racism affects and infects every part of our society and that we cannot separate racial justice from any policy arena. We must bring a racial justice lens to everything we do in public (and private) life.

With that in mind, I want to describe the ways in which I will bring a…

I got into the race for Borough President to make Manhattan a better place to live for all New Yorkers, and to make the things that make New York City great accessible to all of us. That means improving our transit infrastructure, our housing stock, our green space, and our streets. It means making the City’s governance better by improving community boards and community education councils.

But in order to live up to that promise, we must make New York accessible to all New Yorkers. That means we must look at every single decision through a lens that is inclusive…

“Let’s play strip poker.”

I should have been shocked by the Governor’s crude comment, but I wasn’t.

We were flying home from an October 2017 event in Western New York on his taxpayer-funded jet. He was seated facing me, so close our knees almost touched. His press aide was to my right and a state trooper behind us.

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” I responded sarcastically and awkwardly. I tried to play it cool. But in that moment, I realized just how acquiescent I had become.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment…

Freelancers represent roughly a third of our workforce, yet common employee benefits have not evolved to cover these workers. Now that we are suffering through a public health crisis, many freelancers have been left without a safety net. Important freelance journalists from news organizations have been let go, and other industries central to freelancers like Marketing, Entertainment, Technology, and Construction have hit New Yorkers particularly hard.

As Deputy Secretary of Economic Development, Lindsey has experience developing workforce programs to prepare for the changing economy. …

Lindsey Boylan’s Plan To

“For me, this is personal. I grew up in a family that has struggled with addiction, and I’ve lost loved ones to suicide. We don’t have a mental health system in this country. We have a patchwork of resources for those who can afford it and little comfort for the rest. Our country’s mental health epidemic is at the heart of why I’m running for Congress — countless lives and unlimited potential are lost because of our malfunctioning, ineffective health care system.”

- Lindsey Boylan, Democratic Candidate for Congress, NY-10

While mental health parity is mandated under current law to…

In and around our district in New York City, senior facilities are in crisis. The New Jewish Home recorded 21 deaths, The Riverside recorded 22 deaths, and Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare recorded 34 deaths, according to a new state list of deaths that occurred inside nursing homes. And those are just the ones we know about. Senior cases are underreported because of 1) red tape in reporting data in nursing homes, and 2) the high number of home deaths of people who have not had access to go to a hospital or get tested.

Congress was already falling…

Incumbents and challengers alike calling for increased safety measures pertaining to petitioning in the name of democracy. But no one is talking about the larger issue of keeping voters and essential workers safe from the pandemic on election day. This is especially important now that the Presidential primary has been moved to June and turnout will likely be higher.

Ms. Boylan proposes expanding voting options that will help contain this pandemic.

Safe Polling Locations: Senior centers and other common meeting spaces are often used as polling sites. We need to make sure polling sites minimize the risk to vulnerable populations.

New York, NY — Lindsey Boylan, Democratic candidate for Congress in NY-10, released a plan in response to the COVID-19 outbreak to ease the economic burden facing New Yorkers.

In times of crisis, we need strong leaders we can trust to get us the information and resources we need to keep everyone safe and restore livelihood as quickly as possible. Ms. Boylan has been stress-tested as a proven leader in times of crisis.

As Deputy Secretary of Economic Development for the state of New York, and Special Advisor to Governor Cuomo, Boylan oversaw the Office of Storm Recovery. She led…
